If your video is for job searching purposes or to assist in building your personal brand and make new connections, you should consider the following before making your video and uploading it to YouTube.
- Dress professionally, as if you were going to an in-person interview.
- Keep your video resume short but substantive. At least one minute but no more than three.
- Make eye contact with the camera not at the desk or table below you.
- Don’t speak too quickly.

Start by locating your YouTube video URL and copy it to your clipboard.

Add a YouTube video to a Linkedin Profile – Edit your Linkedin Profile
Start by entering edit mode on your Linkedin profile. Navigate to your Summary section and hover your mouse pointer over the “Add Link” icon (
).
Select the “Add Link” option and paste the URL to your YouTube video into the “Add a link” input field. Linkedin will automatically recognize the YouTube URL and present you with the opportunity to assign a Title and a Description to the YouTube video. Click the Save button and then save your profile updates by clicking the Done editing at the top of your profile.
You are not limited to the Summary section of your profile to add a YouTube video to a Linkedin Profile. Any section of your profile where you see the “Add Link” icon can have a YouTube video added.
