Today marked my first meeting with the Executive Board of the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland.  I am honored to have been asked to participate with the TCC as the Calvert County At-Large representative.

The TCC is a partnership of State and local government covering a broad range of topics, including regional transportation and infrastructure planning, economic and workforce development, agricultural development, and tourism.  For those unfamiliar with the TCC their mission is to:

To serve as a forum for the discussion and resolution of issues affecting the Southern Maryland Region.  The Council shall select, advocate and advance those activities, which will best serve the interests of all the people of Southern Maryland. These activities shall promote the social and economic development of the Region, environmental protection; include research, information management, and the preparation of a regional plan.  All of the activities of the Tri-County Council shall be designed to assist federal, State and county governments in better performing their respective duties. – http://www.tccsmd.org/index.cfm?Content=65&Menu=26

Founded in 1964 as a regional cooperative and development agency, 2014 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the TCC.  More information can be found online at their website, http://www.tccsmd.org.
